morning wonder

Like puffs of dust I can hear my footsteps over the chatter of the block and my thoughts like bubbles, like waves as I walk through a nine-thirty sky, dressed in the romanticism of silence as I imagine walking uphill in a hip-hop scotch breath of secondary thoughts inside the cracks of avenue sidewalks, watching tree tops give way to roof tops as the landscape becomes my own every morning.

Brooklyn Night

And this is what I thought under the cover of Brooklyn night

I stand and stare into multicolored windows, where I hope to catch a moment of silence, a moment where you try to steal something from yourself, try to maintain a certain stance

I was told you should keep a good head and always carry a light bulb and something about fate and we laughed how dances should always remind you of the first few years

A place in conversation where you and I try to figure out whether genetics had a part in the ability to twist your tongue

I will never forget the moments we share together and how April will always makes me smile

Knowing that we can always daydream moments into the perfect song, like walking into a bar with a memo from turner in the jukebox and a smile for the friend that taught you to walk like a cowboy or handle a cigarette like you've read a war novel

Its like I pit myself against the second before you quote therein lies the rub

I believe firmly in unrhymed poetry
Like I believe firmly in being honest in love
You are my one true love and in the morning
I want nothing more than ten more minutes

I have a reoccurring dream where you and I walk through
a city of bridges and live out our lives like a passing of the sea

Its like I pit myself against the second before I met you
