a little third person

Always critical
of something suspicious--
Spacious blurred blue sky
just shy of the clouds,
seemingly almost afraid
of upcoming rain,
and all around
you felt the movement of traffic
bring him back to at least sea level—

Or brought store bought thoughts
and fell asleep at the wheel.

and then you just have to move on

a lost ipod

so the story goes that i lost my ipod on a plane trip from denver to frisco.  by the time we had reached the bart train, i had been up for 12 hours and my best friend, my neck pillow, has decided to deflate.  needless to say, i was exhausted and ready to go home.  somehow, somewhere along the initial descent to frisco i packed my headphones away, but forgot to give my ipod its home in my bag and it jumped ship to stay on the plane.

keep your eyes peeled for a silver ipod updated classic in a white case

5-7-5-7-7

Usually, each line consists of one image or idea; unlike English poetry, one does not seek to "wrap" lines in tanka, though in the best tanka the five lines often flow seamlessly into one thought.

California fog
Wrapped in an endless color
(I am here with you)
Like a late green daydream draws
Effortlessly toward evening

vacation

...and then all of a sudden you reappear.
